The beautiful face of courage: Lance Cpl. William Kyle Carpenter USMC Carpenter, 21, of Gilbert lost the eye, most of his teeth and use of his right arm from a grenade blast Nov. 21 near Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.Friends and family say he threw himself in front of the grenade to protect his best friend in Afghanistan, Cpl. Nick Eufrazio This deserves more notes then anything on Tumblr. It’s sad to say stupid pictures of a flower some girl takes with a Nikon D40 that her parents bought her for christmas or a picture of A Day To Remember has more notes then this. The world is fucked up. So much respect for this man. Just so I’m sure I’ve understood our writer here, the world is fucked up because, on tumblr, people spend more time blogging pictures of flowers than of soldiers. The man in this picture, despite how he felt about it or what he meant by it, was in Afghanistan to kill Afghanis and help ensure that their government (do they have one? I remember they did for a little while :/ ) stays completely loyal to the US. How about Americans begin to think about the role that they fulfill globally? I think it’s a little more important to acknowledge that than the story of a man saving his best friend. Wonderful, but a murderer saving another murderer so he can continue killing people doesn’t seem so noble to me.
